Monsoons: MCC asks bldg contractors to stop all works

Mangaluru: The building contractors in Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) limits have been informed to stop all construction works due to the onset of monsoon season.

In a media release, MCC Commissisoner Akshy Shridhar stated that there are chances of heavy rains between Tuesday May 17 to Thursday May 19. Further, the rainy season will commence from June, and that the construction can resume post this period, the release added.

Release further stated that leveling of hills may lead to landslides and cause inconvenience to the public. Therefore, there will be a complete ban on leveling and transportation of soil, the release informed.

Release stated, “Ongoing construction work must resume without causing any damage to the nearby property. Safety walls must be constructed in steep and narrow plots and an appropriate method of construction must be followed. In case of violation, the offenders will be booked as per the KMC laws, release added.
