Mangaluru: After having been announced “COVID-free” recently, the Bantwal taluk reported a new COVID-19 case on Friday when a 60-year-old woman from the Netlamudnoor village here tested positive. Her house in Kukkarabettu has been sealed now.

The new case has now sparked panic among the residents. The woman who tested positive for the disease was admitted to a private hospital a few days ago for surgery. As she also had respiratory issues, her throat swabs were sent for testing, the results of which came back positive on Friday.

Two of the woman’s family members have now been placed under home quarantine.
