Mangaluru: Diwakar Pandeshwar, who has been elected as the Mayor for Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has proved a good administrator and a visionary leader through his maiden speech after assuming charge as the new Mayor. Clarifying that he don’t want to waste the precious time of MCC council meeting for the simple issues, he informed that the opposition party members of Congress can meet him at any time in his chamber and give directions and suggestions. They should raise the issues in council only when the problems are not getting solution even after it comes his notice . Through this maiden statement, Diwakar has sent a strong message that the council meeting should not be used either to publicity or for one’s personal gain.
Diwakar also informed that he would visit five wards in a day to take stock of information with regard to problems of ward and status of some developmental works. His promise of providing round the clock water service after seeking the directions from MP and MLAs of Mangaluru taluk also proved that he takes the opinion of higher-ups before to go ahead with any decisions. His plan of visiting five wards in a day also reveals that he has a strong vision upon his administration.
BJP corporators Sudheer Shetty Kannur and Premananda Shetty, while congratulating Diwakar had opined that as Diwakar was an experienced corporator, being elected from Cantonment Ward for third consecutive time, he would definitely speed up the works related to smart city projects. Taking the issue of smart city project also, Diwakar in his maiden speech informed that he would not do anything, which tarnishes the image of MCC. “ I will take all appropriate measures to speed up the work, related to smart city project,” he promised.
As Diwakar’s maiden speech has comprised all issues related to development, future plans and a strong message to the opposition party Congress, he himself proved that he was a good administrator and visionary leader.
