Mangaluru: The people of Dakshina Kannada district need not panic about the Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD) as no single incident has been proven so far in the district, says the Dakshina Kannada district health department.

According to the Department of Health, though there were five suspected cases of KFD reported in DK district, the blood samples were sent to Pune for the test. However, the report of blood tests has not confirmed with KFD. Hence, Dakshina Kannada District Health Officer Ramakrishna Rao told reporters on Wednesday, February 6, that the people need not worry in this regard.

Rao informed that a total of 22 monkeys were found dead in various parts of the district since the KFD disease broke out in the neighbouring district and autopsy was conducted on the dead monkeys. However, the report was negative for KFD disease, Rao added.
