Mangaluru: In response to the escalating traffic in Mangalore and its outskirts, the government has decided to extend the four-lane highway from BC Road to Mukka, incorporating two additional lanes.
The primary focus of this development will be on the highway segment from Kuloor bridge to Baikampady. Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel provides further details, mentioning that the project is designed and will be implemented in phases.
The New Mangalore Port Authority, in collaboration with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), will lead this initiative. The existing four-lane roads will undergo expansion, while areas with limited space will witness the construction of elevated highways.
There is also a plan in progress for the Mangalore Bypass Road, spanning from Mulki to Thokkattu. The entire project is expected to cover a distance of 91.20 km, with an estimated cost of approximately Rs 3,931 crores.
