Bantwal: Poisoning of river water led to death of several fish and aquatic creatures at Dasarabettu, CPCRI in Vittala here. The incident came to light on Tuesday, February 9.
The role of some government officials and locals are suspected. Water sample has been sent to forensic laboratory to determine the exact chemical used to poison the water body. It is believed that calcium carbide and endosulfan might have been used.
Vittal Town Panchayat members have registered with the local police.
