Mangaluru: In the aftermath of the disappearance of PhD student Chaithra, the Ullal police intensify efforts as Hindu organizations raise suspicions of drug peddling involvement, threatening protests. ACP hints at Love Jihad influence.

Chaithra vanished on February 17, leaving her rented place in Madoor and abandoning her scooter in Suratkal. Initially treated as a routine missing person case, police efforts escalated due to pressure from VHP and BD leaders, with accusations against a youth linked to drug peddling.

Police traced Chaithra’s presence to Bengaluru using her mobile location data and identified her in CCTV footage at the Majestic bus stand. A young man from Puttur, associated with Chaithra and suspected of drug peddling, is also missing.

While the two individuals’ current whereabouts remain uncertain, the police express optimism about locating Chaithra within the next two days. Hindu organization leaders met ACP Dhanya Nayak, alleging Love Jihad involvement and urging swift police action. The investigation by Ullal police is ongoing.
