Mangaluru: Police and officials from the Mines and Geology on November 16 seized approximately 1,300 truckloads of sand, illegally stored near the Adypadi Dam in the limits of Bajpe Police.
According to police, the sand was illegally stocked in the land which belongs to Jeevan Periera.
Bajpe Police also seized the sand stock and it is being guarded by the police personnel.
Police have registered cases under Karnataka Mines and Minerals Concession Rules 1994, section 3,36,42, 44. Mines and Minerals (D&R) Act 1957 under the section 4, 4(IA), 21(4), 4(A) and IPC Section 379.
Accused Jeevan Periera is absconding now.
