Mangaluru: Senior Congress leader and founder trustee of Sri Gokarnatheshwara Temple, Kudroli, on Wednesday, February 10 offered special prayers at the temple for the speedy recovery of Lance Naik Hanumanthappa.
Later speaking to reporters, Poojary lauded the soldiers of the country for safeguarding the nation fighting all odds.
Poojary said that while prayers were offered for speedy recovery of Hanumanthappa, prayers were also made for the souls of nine soldiers who died in the avalanche.
It may be recalled that ten soldiers posted at army base in Siachen were buried alive in an avalanche. Out of the ten soldiers, only one identified as Hanumanthappa, hailing from Koppada survived. He was rescued in a herculean rescue operation, almost 6 days after the avalanche.
His condition is said to be critical.
