Mangaluru: As the curfew has been lifted, the ‘Prakashabhinandana’ programme, which is being organised to celebrate the 60th birth year of entrepreneur Prakash Shetty at the ‘Goldfinch City’ plot in Kuloor, on Wednesday, December 25, will be held as scheduled.
The programme is being inaugurated by Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.
Reception committee president Suresh Shetty Gurme told mediapersons here on Monday, December 23, that recently, a programme was organised where 60 physically challenged persons were given Rs 1 lakh each and 60 meritorious students were given scholarships worth Rs 10,000 each.
“The main celebratory programme will be held on December 25, which will be inaugurated by CM BSY and will be presided over by Nitte (Deemed to be University) Chancellor N Vinay Hegde. Deputy Chief Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, state home minister Basavaraj Bommai, Union minister D V Sadananda Gowda, MP and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, Minister for Tourism C T Ravi, MLC and DK district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje and Mandya MP Sumalatha Ambareesh will grace the occasion,” he informed.
Speaking about the cultural programme, Suresh said, “‘Yakshagana Vaibhava’ will be organised as part of the programme, wherein veteran Yakshagana playback singers Patla Sathish Shetty, Bansale Raghavendra Achar and Kavyashri Ajeru will participate. The cultural programme will be presented by the students of Alva’s College Moodbidri and a musical programme will be conducted by veteran music director Arjun Janya and singer Vijay Prakash. Renowned anchors Anushree, Roopesh Shetty and Nithesh Shetty Yekkar will compere the programme. Over 25,000 people are expected to attend this event.”

Meanwhile, 15 achievers from different fields will be presented with gold medals on the occasion.
