Mangaluru: The allegations of insulting Lord Rama, Goddess Sita and Lord Hanuman should be properly investigated and legal action should be taken against the real culprits within 48 hours, urged State Women’s Congress General Secretary Shailaja Amarnath. She threatened to go on a dharna in front of the Puttur Town Police Station holding an ‘Arrest Me’ placard if suitable action is not taken.
Speaking to mediapersons at her residence in Bappalige, Puttur of Dakshina Kannada District on Monday June 20, she said that she has already lodged a police complaint against Mumtaz of Vikrama YouTube Channel for distorting and telecasting the ‘Clubhouse’ debate. “I have also lodged a complaint against the gang that attacked my house. But the police have not been able to arrest the accused. I demand that legal action be taken against Mumtaz who aired the edited video. He demanded that the original audio of ‘Clubhouse’ be examined and justice be given to her.
Meanwhile, the BJP’s official page has also posted the distorted video. This proves that no woman is protected under the BJP’s rule, which claims to be pro-Hindu, and respect daughters, Shailaja said and also accused that the BJP Government was trying to pit pro-Hindu organisations against a Hindu woman. “I am a devotee of God and not a daughter who insults God for any reason. I am a woman who believes in all Gods including Lord Rama, Sita, Lord Mahalingeshwara of Puttur and follows Hindu traditions and rituals. I don’t need a YouTube Channel or a certificate from pro-Hindu organisations to say I am a Hindu. I am not an unrighteous person,” she asserted.
“BJP is doing adharma in the name of religion. But I am not an unrighteous person. The BJP has pitted pro-Hindu organisations against me in a bid to garner votes. I have joined the Congress party because I am raising my voice against BJP’s misrule. Now, the BJP is working on giving a woman. “If I am killed, then report it as the murder of a Hindu woman by ‘Hindu traitors.”
Further, demanding that the MLA should apologise, Shailaja, added “The MLA who has not provided adequate security to a woman in his own constituency when a gang attacks the house of the woman, who is also an advocate, he should apologise. I have not insulted any God. I have God’s backing, she said and added that Lord Ramachandra will protect her.”
