Mangaluru: ” Political parties, opposing Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) are using protesters as the pawns of their political game and one should not indulge in such protests when they have no knowledge about the Act,” said BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav on Sunday, December 29.
He was delivering a talk on “Citizenship Amendment Act” organised by Mangaluru Chapter of Citizens Council at Mizar Govinda Pai Memorial Hall in Canara High School Urwa.
He said, ” indulging in protests having half knowledge or no knowledge about the facts is always very dangerous. It is very clear that CAA doesn’t deny citizenship to anybody who are born in India. Those who oppose CAA intend to gain political mileage and people should not fall victims to their hidden agenda.”
Terming the on-going protests as deliberate politically and communally motivated one, Ram Madhav said, ” India is the only country wherein 72 sections of Muslim religion are getting shelter. No Muslims in other countries enjoy such privilege. The minorities in Pakistan, Afghanistan or Bangladesh are facing religious persecution, due to which they are allowed to get citizenship of India. Though there were around 400 temples when Pakistan was carved out of India, today there may be only 20 temples left there. Unable to bear religious persecution, minorities migrating to India. Being a Hindu nation, we need to give shelter to them. But, citizens of India including Muslims who are born and brought up in India should not be worried about either CAA or the National Register of Citizens (NRC).”
Citizens Council Mangaluru Chapter president Chidanand Kedilaya was present.
