Puttur: Rtd ASI found hanging from tree in reserve forest area

Puttur: A retired police personnel commited suicide by hanging himself from a tree within the Balleri Reserve Forest at Meginapanja on Tuesday November 21 morning.

The deceased, Sheshappa Poojary had served as the assistant sub-inspector at Puttur police station and was known to be a person of good repute who shared cordial relations with the staff personnel.

A Kunjoorupanja native, Poojary had rented a house at Parladka. It is gathered that Poojary had visited his ancestral home just a day before committing suicide, reason for which is not known.

He is survived by his wife, Vishalakshi, and sons, P S Rakshit and P S Shobhit.

Poojary started his career working as a constable in Pandeshwara station in 1986. He had also served at Belthangady Sulya Station, Subrahmanya station. He was promoted to the rank of an ASI in 2015.
