Mangaluru: A quarrel erupted between the members of Airport Taxi Union and Online Taxi Union and in the course of the fight a total of eight people were injured on Wednesday, November 7.
The reason for quarrel is said to be the issue of picking passengers from the Airport. Sources from Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) informed that quarrel erupted when an online taxi driver attempted to pick passenger from the premises of Airport on Wednesday morning, to which the members of Airport Taxi union objected. When the online taxi driver reminded that even Deputy Commissioner of the district permitted to pick passengers from the premises of Airport, the airport taxi drivers allegedly assaulted the driver. Meanwhile, the members of Online taxi drivers rushed in and came to the rescue of the driver. However, a total of eight members from both unions namely John Abraham, Althaf, B K Imthiyaz, Wilson among others were injured.
