Mangaluru: For the development of tourism sector in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation has decided to sponsor the folk sport Kambala.
According to the government order given on Thursday March 18, for conducting 10 Kambalas each in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district, Rs 50 lakhs each will be released to District Officers. Total amount of Rs 1 crore has been released by the director of the corporation.
The order stated that the money given for the grant should only be used for the purpose of Kambala and to attract large number of tourists. It also states that the Kambala should be organised by a group / team belonging to one family.
