Mangaluru: After a delay of nearly six months, the railway underpass at Padil was thrown open to the public on Wednesday, November 15.
Inaugurating the underpass here BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that owing to several technical and other issues, including the monsoons the work on the underpass was delayed by around six months.
Nalin said that the construction of the existing railway underpass is due to commence from the next week and will be completed within 3-4 months.
Further he informed that several other road developmental works, which include the concretization of the 65km road stretch from BC Road to Addole besides maintenance works to be undertaken on road stretch from BC Road to Suratkal will be undertaken.
The underpass, built at a cost of Rs 16.50 crore making use of hydraulic technology was initially supposed to be completed by March 2017. With the underpass now open to the public, commuters on this road will be relieved from traffic congestion issues that they had to face earlier at the time of construction.
