Puttur: The renovated AC Puttur branch premises was inaugurated on December 12 and was blessed by V. Rev. Fr. Lawrence Mascarenhas, parish priest of Mai De Deus church and Vicar Forane of Puttur Deanery.
The customer meet was held at Christopher Banquet Hall, Puttur and was presided over by the chairman of the bank, Anil Lobo. Vicar Forane Puttur Deanery, Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, Puttur MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor, were the chief guests. Vice President of Mai De Deus Church, Maurice Mascarenhas was the guest of honour.
A prayer session by Vandana and Chandana started the programme and was followed by a minute of silence for the departed soul of Late Ignatius Dias, owner of the building.
Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas congratulated the Chairman, the board of directors and the staff of the Puttur branch on the renovation to render service to the customers. He said that MCC Bank, over the years, has served many needy customers. He wished that the bank would grow further by giving good service. He appreciated the leadership of Anil Lobo and wished the management and staff good luck.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor said that Puttur has given enough recognition to the district by giving birth to many co-operative societies. “Our district has its own presence in the banking sector by giving birth to many banks. These co-operative societies have served customers at the ground level and provided support to the poor and the needy. They have provided the facilities and services at par with major banks,” he said and congratulated the management and the staff for bringing the changes. He wished that the bank will grow and gain the status of a scheduled bank in the near future.
In his presidential address, Anil Lobo thanked all the customers and delegates for attending the meet and their love for the bank. He opined that the banking sector has grown immensely over the years. “Co-operative banks are not much behind the other commercial banks. MCC Bank not just works commercially but also strives hard to meet the need of the customers. To give relief to the customer, the Jewel loan interest was reduced from 12 percent to 8.50 percent,” he said.
He expressed his happiness on seeing many senior customers of the bank are still happily using their service, which shows the trust the bank has built with them. Over the past two years, the bank has grown to a great extent despite many hurdles. He opined that such achievements are always backed by the customers’ support.
Informing that the bank is coming under the RBI, he requested the customers to give the bank their support. “The Bank is doing every bit to go digital and as a result we will be starting UPI enabled services,” he said, requesting the customers to give their suggestions in future for the continuous development of the bank.
Maurice Mascarenhas shared about his friendship with Anil Lobo and wished that bank well.
As a part of customer meet, an open session was held for suggestions, opinions and grievance reddressal. Customers actively took part in the session and gave their valuable suggestions. Every question was also answered by the chairman.
Paul Herald Mascarenhas compered the programme and Puttur Branch Support Director J.P.Rodrigues welcomed the gathering.
Vice Chairman Jerald Jude D’Silva, Directors Andrew D’Souza, Elroy Crasto, David D’Souza, Ex Director Raymond Monteiro and General Manager Sunil Menezes were present. Branch Manager Sharun Pinto proposed vote of thanks.
The programme concluded with a lunch.
