Mangaluru: The revered Yakshagana artiste, Peruvai Narayana Shetty, fondly known as the “Yaksharangada Raja,” breathed his last on Tuesday night, January 23, at the age of 82. Shetty, who had made a significant mark in the Tenkuthittu Yakshagana and also participated in Tulu Yakshaganas, began his journey in Yakshagana at the tender age of 12. He actively contributed to various Yakshagana Melas, including those in Dharmasthala, Polali, Kadri, Kuntaru, and Kateel.
After dedicating over five decades to the field of Yakshagana, Shetty retired due to deteriorating health. His legacy and contributions to the art form will be remembered and cherished in the Yakshagana community.
