Roundtable discussion focuses on Global Organ Donation Advocacy

Mangaluru: A significant step towards fostering global awareness and support for organ donation was taken during a roundtable discussion held in Mangaluru on August 18th. The event brought together key figures in the field of organ donation to deliberate on ways to amplify efforts and establish an international platform for this noble cause.

The event’s keynote speaker, Mr. Lal Goel, Chairman of Organ Donation India Foundation & GYAN, shared valuable insights gained from his recent visits to the USA and UK. He highlighted the eagerness of Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) to contribute to the cause of organ donation. Mr. Goel emphasized the need for a structured international organization that could unite efforts globally, benefiting not only advanced countries but also those that are still developing.

The roundtable discussions culminated in a consensus to create a new entity with the name “Rotary Club of Organ Donation International.” This initiative aims to bridge gaps between different regions, facilitate cross-country collaboration, and enhance organ donation awareness worldwide.

Among the esteemed participants was Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ismail H, Chairman of Kanachur Health Sciences Advisory Council, who shared his medical expertise on the matter. Mr. Ajeet Khare, Managing Director of Canara Lighting Industries Pvt Ltd, also lent his voice to the discussions, providing valuable insights on potential strategies for increasing public engagement.

The event highlighted the urgent need to address challenges related to organ donation globally. The proposed Rotary Club of Organ Donation International is set to play a pivotal role in fostering a sense of unity and shared responsibility among nations in the realm of organ donation.

The roundtable served as a platform for robust conversations, innovative ideas, and collaborative efforts to expand organ donation awareness beyond geographical boundaries. This significant step forward promises a brighter future for individuals in need of life-saving organ transplants across the globe.
