Security stepped up in Bantwal as taluk goes for polls

Bantwal: As the Zilla and Taluk Panchayat polls will be underway in another few hours, the Bantwal taluk administration has undertaken all the measures to ensure a peaceful polling.


Polling officials on Friday afternoon February 19, departed to the respective polling booths from the mustering centre at Infant Jesus Institution, Modankapu, with Electronic Voting Machines.

288 polling booths
As many as 288 booths have been setup for the polling that which take place for 9 Zilla Panchayat and 34 Taluk Panchayat seats.

These booths are classified into 112 sensitive, 31 hyper-sensitive and 144 normal booths. There are 2,67,381 voters out of which 1,22,852 male and 1,33,524 female voters.

Mangaluru Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar, who is also the Chief Election Officer, Nodal Officer Umesh NR, Thashildar Purandar Hegde, Deputy Thahsildar Parameshwar Naik and other officials, monitored the preparation.

Apart from police personnel from the police stations in the Taluk, additional security comprising a DSP from Bagalkote, two CPIs, two PSIs, 210 police constables and 130 home guards have been deployed on duty.
