Mangaluru: During the weekly phone-in programme, it was brought to the notice of the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner T R Suresh that a building in Ballalbagh was in violation of the norms, as shops were placed in the parking area.

Instructing the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Manjunath Shetty, Commissioner Suresh said, “The city police will start taking photos of such violations and report them to the MCC “, and added that they would be documenting such buildings.

The caller also stated that owing to the shops, the motorists are left with no choice but to park on the road side, which hinders the flow of traffic on the road.

Another caller complained about the hindrance to the traffic caused by the vehicles parked near the Kankanady and the Traffic South police stations.

Commissioner Suresh had the vehicles cleared immediately, but the caller insisted that some vehicles still remained.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Hanumantharaya explained that some of the vehicles could not be moved due to the objection from the owner of the building in which the police station is located.

Other callers asked for actions against various issues like a hotel in Gurupura for letting waste water onto the road, two-wheelers in Bajpe for the use of flashy headlights and a private city bus operator for the use of illegal vacuum horns.
