Mangaluru: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah has proven himself to be more fanatical than Tipu Sultan by initiating the ruler’s birth anniversary programme in order to divide the people on the lines of religion, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said.
Nalin was addressing a gathering during a protest meeting organised in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office against the conduction of Tipu Jayanti programme on Friday, November 9. He said, “No person from Muslim community ever approached the government and asked for Tipu Jayanti programme. Over that, the birthday celebration of any person is not allowed in Islam. Then why Siddaramaiah is keen on holding Tipu Jayanti programme? Hence, Siddaramaiah seems to be more fanatical than Tipu Sultan”, he said.
Coming down heavily on Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy Nalin, said, “When Siddaramaiah decided to hold Tipu Jayanti programme in the year 2015, Kumaraswamy opposed the move. However, now Siddaramaiah prefers to be mum on the issue. Why Siddaramaiah is hesitant to take the decision?”, he questioned.
MLAs Dr. Y Bharath Shetty, Vedavyas Kamath, former MLA N Yogish Bhat and other leaders like Pratapsimha Nayak, Santhosh Kumar Rai Boliyaru, Bhaskarchandra Shetty among others were present.
