Mangaluru: Veteran Congress leader Janardhana Poojary lashed out at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for not taking adequate steps to provide good governance to the people of the state. Poojary also urged Siddaramaiah to look into the matter of Yettinahole Project and heed to the voice of people of the coast.

Speaking to media persons on Tuesday, November 29, Poojary suggested that the state government should effectively tackle its corrupt ministers. Addressing the recent issue of three Karnataka state Congress ministers taking a bribe of Rs. 50 crore, Poojary said, “The chief minister must sack the three ministers on top priority after an intelligence report is made. The cabinet must be scrutinized to check for corruption and the Congress high command should also look into the matter in order to save the party’s image.”

Regarding Yettinahole project, Poojary said the protests by the coastal people have fallen into deaf ears as the state government is not doing anything about it. “It is a shame that the CM is not taking the coastal people into consideration by going ahead with Yettinahole project. Siddaramaiah should immediately stop the project and bring respite to the people who will get affected by this project”, he added.

“It is not that hard for the state government to join hands with the central government and chalk out a solution for the Mahadayi river issue. It can be solved only if the Karnataka CM takes a stand on this matter”, Poojary said while addressing Mahadayi river issue.

Speaking on demonetisation, Poojary asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi if certain corporate bigwigs were informed about this move beforehand so that they could make necessary arrangements. “The common people have been the worst affected due to this policy. Why are the corporate biggies not affected by this policy? We do not see them standing in queue to exchange notes, but the poor and middle class people are suffering the most”, he added.

Speaking about Minister Tanveer Sait’s sleazegate issue, Poojary said it was not right on the CM’s part to keep Sait in the cabinet. “Siddaramaiah should demand the resignation of Sait in this matter. If Sait does not resign, the CM should sack him without any hesitation”, Poojary said.
