Speeding car hits three vehicles and an electric pole, driver dies

Bantwal: A speeding car hit three vehicles before hitting an electric pole resulting in the instant death of the driver at Panemangaluru, on November 18.

Rakesh Naik (30), resident of Netlamudnoor, has been identified as the deceased.

Naik, employed at a cooperative bank, was heading to the SCDCC bank to deposit cash when the incident occured. After losing control over the car, he hit a Bolero jeep, another car and an auto rickshaw, before hitting a road side electric pole. The Renault Duster vehicle, driven by Rakesh, finally came to a halt after it rolled over into a nearby paddy field.

The driver died instantly.

Bantwal police visited the accident spot immediately. Even minister Ramanath Rai, who happened to be plying on the route that time, also visited the accident site.

Uppinangadi Sub-Inspector Nandakumar, travelling en route, was the first one to relay the accident information to the traffic police to initiate further action.
