Mangaluru: The St. Aloysius Higher Primary School, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, Department of Public Instructions’ Office of the Block Education Officer, Mangaluru, North Range are jointly organising primary and high school level boys and girls ‘State Level Chess – Tournament 2017-18’ from October 10 to 12 at the college premises.
St. Aloysius institutions has been successfully organising taluk level Chess tournaments for many years. This academic year, the college will be holding a state level chess tournament.
Nearly 900 students from 34 educational districts of the state including primary and high school girls and boys, judges, physical education officers from the taluks, districts and state, team managers will attend this chess tournament which is being held at an estimated cost of Rs 10 Lakh.
St. Aloysius Higher Primary School run by the Society of Jesus, has a legacy of 137 years of service to the cause of education. Along with education, the institution greatly supports sports activities. The institution has a vast play ground with experts in sports, who coach the students. To promote swimming among the students, the institution has constructed an international standard swimming pool.
