Sullia: The Sullia town turned into a “Sea of Saffron” with thousands of BJP supporters converging to support Parivarthan Rally on November 10.
The unprecedented response went beyond the expectation of BJP leaders after the rally suffered initial setbacks soon after its takeoff in Bengaluru. The rally which left the temple town Kukke Subramanya arrived in Sullia at 11 in the morning. People from surrounding towns of Bellare, Guttigaru, Kadaba and Belandur converged like “large streams” to form an ocean in allocation at the town, considered a BJP bastion. People welcomed the rally at Shastri Circle on the periphery of the town and then marched through the main thoroughfares of the city.
State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa, Union minister D V Sadananda Gowda, members of parliament Sriramulu, Shobha Karndalaje, Nalin Kumar Kateel, local legislator Angara, leaders Tejaswini Ramesh and others took part in the rally to the cheer of waving crowds. District BJP President Sajeev Matandur, former minister Krishna J Palemar and Sullia Block President Venkat Valavambe were among those present.
People from nearby villages like Aranthodu, Aletti, Sampaje, Thodikana, Ubaradka joined the rally walking from their respective villages. According to estimates, the surging crowd crossed 15,000 giving respite to state BJP leaders at the receiving end from their party top brass after it faced initial glitches.
