Mangaluru: As the old mosque structure of the Assayid Abdulahil Madani Juma Masjid was being demolished, a wooden structure resembling a temple was found on Friday April 22. Therefore, the police security has been tightened near Malali, Ganjimatha in the City to prevent any untoward incidents on Saturday April 23.
Mangaluru Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar said that stay for renovation works of mosque has been ordered by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K. V following the stay granted by The Third Additional Civil Court and JMFC Court. The work will be stopped until completion of the inquiry. The locals are living in harmony and they will obey the law and follow what comes out after the investigations, he said.
The Third Additional Civil Court and JMFC Court has issued a temporary stay to the works at the mosque site until the next hearing of the case. The stay granted on a petition of one, Dhananjay. On June 3, the next hearing is slated.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has sought investigation by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). VHP Leader Sharan Pumpwell welcomed court’s order and said ASI will reveal the hidden truth.
Ganjimatha Gram Panchayat issued notice to mosque and has ordered to stop renovation works till court’s further order.
