Mangaluru: A complaint was filed with the Mangaluru South police by Shankari Rai about the theft of gold ornaments, including few diamond studded gold ornaments, kept in a cupboard in her house at Kankanady.

In this connection, the Mangaluru South Police arrested a 28-year-old woman and her husband for their alleged involvement in the theft of ornaments worth Rs. 48.4 lakh from a house in Kankanady on August 31.

Police Inspector Dinakar Shetty suspected the involvement of Parvati, who had worked in Shankari’s house for few weeks, in the theft.

A police team was sent to her house in Bajal which was found locked. On the basis of information that was gathered, the police went to the house of Parvati’s husband, Puttaraju’s (42), relative in Davangere.

The police found Parvati and Puttaraju there and also recovered gold ornaments stolen from Ms. Rai’s house from them.
