Torrential rains: Two die in separate drowning incidents

Belthangady/Kasargod: The heavy rains that have been lashing the coastal region of Karnataka, has claimed the life of a 50-year-old woman, who died after she was drowned in a river in Shrilal, Belthangady Taluk, owing to the strong currents.

The deceased has been identified as Revathi.

On Saturday, June 9, Revathi had been to the Phalguni river to wash clothes near Bairavagundi. As Revathi stepped into the water, the strong currents of the river washed her away. The locals who saw Revathi drowning pulled her out of the water and rushed her to the hospital but, she could not be saved.

 

The four-year girl drowned in the stormwater

Kasargod: In a rain-related mishap, a four-year-old girl died after she drowned in a stormwater in Kushal Nagar, Kanhangad.

Due to the rain the death in the district rises by two. The deceased has been identified as Fathima Sainabha daughter of Mohammed Ansif Kushal Nagar.

The girl who was playing suddenly went missing. While family members began to trace her, the little girl was found dead in a pit filled with stormwater.

Hosadurga police have registered the case and sent the mortal remains to the district hospital.

It may also be recalled that on Friday, June 8, Chaniyappa Naika was drowned in a stream in Delampady. His mortal remains were found on Saturday afternoon.
