Tulu film ‘Pavithra’ to hit screens tomorrow

Mangaluru: Yet another Tulu cinema named ‘Pavithra- Beedida Ponnu’ is all set to hit the screens on Friday, February 5.
The film will be screened at theatres like Suchithra, Big Cinemas, PVR, Cinepolis in Mangaluru, Kalpana in Udupi, Inox in Manipal, Nakshatra in B C Road and Aruna in Puttur.

The film produced and scripted by Anathranrao Yermal, a Chennai based entrepreneur has been directed by Nagavenkatesh.

The film has been shot in 23 days in and around Mangaluru, Yermal, Kaup, Kuloor, Haleyangadi and Jeppu areas.

In a way, Beedi rolling has been the mainstay of several economically backward families. The film revolves around the life of the beedi rolling classes, their aspirations and the changes that the industry has made in their lives.

The protagonist of the film- Pavithra grows up seeing her mother’s busy hands rolling beedis to sustain the family. In turn of events Pavithra falls in love with Raja. With new turns unfurling in the life of Pavithra, audience will have to wait and watch if Pavithra fights all odds to marry her love or not.

The role of Pavithra is played by Chirashree Anchan, a new comer to Tulu cinema. The male lead role has been played by Shravanth. While Chirashree has acted in Kannada flick ‘Kalpana2’ starring Upendra, Shravanth too has three Kannada cinemas to his credit.

The film stars some of Tulu cinema stalwarts like Naveen D Padil, Aravind Bolar and Bhojraj Vamanjoor.
