Tulu movie ‘Kudla Cafe’ released at Jyothi theatre

Mangaluru: Tulu movie ‘Kudla Cafe’, produced under the banner of Yodha Motion Pictures, was released at Jyothi theatre here on Friday February 12.

Chairman of Shri Devi Institutions Sadananda Shetty, RSS leader Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, Naveen D Padil, Amarnath Rai, Vijay Kumar and Prabhakar Shetty were among the dignitaries who inaugurated the ceremony by lighting a traditional lamp.

Dr Bhat expressed happiness that Tulu language is being protected and fostered via movies. He wished all the Tulu filmmakers success and urged them to produce many more movies in the language. Dr Bhat gave a call especially to youth to speak in Tulu and pass it onto the next generation.

Sadananda Shetty said that he is happy with the makers of the movie for promoting kabaddi and the local kabaddi players. He wished that the movie runs for over 100 days.

The movie is directed and co-produced by Surya Menon along with Ranjan Shetty. Shiva Shankar Menon is the Assistant Director. Kudla Saikrishna has worked as the Creative Producer. Saleel Pathak has helmed cinematography. Umang and Akaash Prajapathi have rendered music. Shashiraj Kavoor has scripted the story. Editing has been done by Akshay Mehta. The sound is by Rakshith Tantri. Sathish Brahmavar is in charge of production.

Naveen D Padil, Jyothish Shetty, Raghu Pandeshwar, Ahana Kumra, Shaine Shetty, Santhosh Shetty, Sudhir Raaj Urva, Ashok Shetty, Kishore Kottari, Bantwal Jayaramachaar, Thimmappa Kulal, Bhavani Shankar, Shashiraaj Kavoor, Manoj Puttur, Shruthi Shetty, Anusha Kotian, Sanam Amin, Karthik Kotian, Suraj Sanil and Naveen Shetty Mijar form the star cast.

The film revolves around three estranged friends who get back together after 30 years and try to save a cafe where they had spent the best years of their childhood from getting demolished.

The highlight of the film is a kabaddi tournament by state and national-level players. Sahara Madanthyaru, Jayalaxmi Bolar, Alva’s Moodbidri, Kesari Kodikere, Boliya Friends, Welcome Thokkottu and other teams feature in the tournament which has been shot at Kulai and Urva grounds.

Screening at International Film Festival
Even before its release, ‘Kudla Cafe’ was screened at the International Film Festival in Bengaluru earlier this month.
Speaking about the film ‘Kudla Cafe’, producer Ranjan Raghu Shetty said, “The intention is t give a unique movie to the audience. The opportunity to participate in the International Film Festival is the first stepping stone towards success.”
