Mangaluru: A turnout of 31,500 children is estimated for the Pilikula Children Fest – 2015, informed Dakshina Kannada District Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim.
The two-day-fest will be held under the joint aegis of the Women and Child Welfare Department and Pilikula Nisargadhama on November 14-15 at Dr Shivaram Karanth Park, Pilikula from 10 am – 4 pm.
Briefing the media about arrangements made in this regard, the DC said, “Vehicle parking is arranged near the entrance. As many as eight counters for the entry and three information centres will be setup. Children will be treated to various delicacies including ice-creams that will be available on either sides of the pavement. Teachers have been directed to escort the students. To avoid chaos, information boards have been placed at vantage points. Children will be given a coupon which will give them access to boating, zoo or other selected counters. Caps and masks need to be collected from centres reserved for boys, girls and smaller children. First-aid centres, toilets and change rooms will be arranged”.
Treasure hunt, quiz, robotics and animation, origami, facemask and kite preparation competitions will be some of the competitions held. Folk dances, magic shows, mimicry, mimes and mono-acting will also be organized, he informed. Students from Sanidhya Special School will play a band. Replicas of renowned architectures such as Taj Mahal, Burj Khalifa, Mysuru Palace etc will be put up beside which the children can capture snaps.
The inaugural ceremony will be marked on November 14 with the participants blowing balloons at the entrance at 11 am. The DC has urged the students to download a blueprint of the arrangements from the official website of Pilikula Nisargadhama – http://www.pilikula.com/index.html
