Udupi : The Congress has emerged victorious in three of the five constituencies of Udupi district. The BJP has won while Independent candidate Halady Srinivas Shetty has proved his mettle by winning by a huge margin.
The victorious candidates are Pramod Madhwaraj from Udupi who secured 86868 votes and defeated his nearest rival Sudhaker Shetty of BJP. In Kaup, Vinaykumar Sorake of Kaup has secured 52782 votes and defeated Lalaji Mendon of the BJP.
In Kundapur, Halady Srinivas Shetty registered an emphatic win by a margin of over 40000 votes. The BJP won in Karkala constituency with its candidate Sunil Kumar securing 65039 votes and defeating Gopal Poojari of the Congress. In Byndoor, Gopal Poojari of Congress garnered 82277 votes and defeated BM Sukumar Shetty of the BJP
