Moodabidri: Fed up with the reckless driving of truck drivers carrying jelly stones from crushers on Iruvail- Bellachar road, the villagers of Mijar-Badaga Edapadav blocked the traffic and issued warnings to the violators on December 28.
There are 6-7 stone crushers around Iruvali village and around 50 trucks regularly ply on National Highway 13 from early morning 5 am till late night. Villagers had warned the truck drivers earlier to drive with caution in and around few villages on the national Highway.

However, truck drivers had thrown the caution to the wind and were seen driving in a reckless manner. Three minor accidents too had taken place in the recent past.

Fed up the behaviour of drivers, villagers of Mijar-Badaga Edapadav decided to block the trucks and issued warnings to them. Villagers’ intention was to prevent accidents and protect roads from getting ruined due to heavy traffic movement.

Mijar Citizen Welfare Forum members were joined by nearby villagers in the traffic blockade.
