Mangaluru: Starting at the end of August, the railway authorities have taken the decision to make several adjustments to the composition of two weekly trains running between Mangaluru Central and Puducherry. Specifically, they will introduce an additional AC 3-Tier coach and three more Sleeper Class coaches. In contrast, two general second-class coaches will be removed from the setup.
Effective from August 31, the Train No. 16855 Puducherry-Mangaluru Central Weekly Express (Thursdays, via Salem) will incorporate these changes. Similarly, the Train No. 16856 Mangaluru Central-Puducherry Weekly Express (Fridays, via Salem) will adopt the new arrangement from September 1.
The Train No. 16857 Puducherry-Mangaluru Central Weekly Express (Saturdays, via Tiruchirapalli) will see the additional coaches incorporated from September 2, while the Train No. 16858 Mangaluru Central-Puducherry Weekly Express (Sundays, via Tiruchirapalli) will have the changes implemented from September 3.
Following these modifications, the trains will feature an updated configuration consisting of one AC 2-tier coach, two AC 3-tier coaches, ten Sleeper Class coaches, three general second-class coaches, and two luggage-cum-brake van coaches that are designed to accommodate persons with disabilities.
