Mangaluru: The Nehru Maidan and St Agnes Special School grounds in city had turned into a paradise on earth on Sunday, November 27 with colourful stage setting, costumes, ethereal sound and lights synchrony. A stellar performance by over 150 artistes in the lavish setting offered the huge crowd gathered in the venues an “out of the world” experience. This spell was cast at a mobile show, “2016-year-old Fact in a Mobile Act” organised by NGO White Doves.
The spectators were virtually taken through an astral journey with the acts depicting the life of Jesus Christ and the life and martyrdom of St Lawrence

On the occasion, Bishop of Mangaluru Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza lauded the White Doves and its chief Corrine Rasquinha for coming up with such a unique concept. “Every year the team conceptualises a theme with four months of prayers. Jesus has called upon us to bear our Cross in everyday life. We all carry it, small or big, heavy or light. But then respite lies in Jesus who said, ‘Come to me and I will give you rest’. He has paved for us a path to follow him daily with the acceptance of whatever comes on our way, be it misery, sorrows or trials. He always shows us he is with us to help us”, preached the Bishop.

Exemplifying the life of St Lawrence, he exhorted the gathering to follow the footsteps of the saint joyfully accepted the suffering for the love of God when he was placed on the frying pan and attained martyrdom.

“Our Holy Father says the Church is of the poor and for the poor. We have the example of St Lawrence, of how he loved the poor and said this is the property and wealth of the Church. We should learn to love the poor to know that they are the faces of suffering of Christ. By respecting them, loving them and helping them, we will show that we are the followers of Christ. I wish all the best and pray for Lord’s blessings in abundance,” the bishop prayed.

In all, four shows were held this Christmas season including the ones at Christian PU college grounds, Udupi and Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva. All of them had a captivating impact on the crowd.

Chief whip of the Legislative Council Ivan D’souza, Parish Priest of St Sebastian Church, Bendore Fr Antony Serrao and others were present.
