Kasargod: A colorful procession was held on Sunday on the third day of Vishwa Tuluvere Ayano in Badiyadka.In the procession which began from Badiyadka Navajeevan School ground and culminated at Badiyadka Bolukatte ground, over 60 communities took part. The convention though began on Friday at Tuluveshwara Chawadi got officially inaugurated with the colorful rally on Sunday.
Kerala Revenue Minister E Chandrashekaran inaugurated the programme and called upon the participants to stay united irrespective of diverse cultural and language background.
The chief guest on the occasion Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes said that there was a need to preserve Tulu language and culture. “We need to fight to include Tulu in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, so that it could be recognised as an official language.
Tuluvere Ayano President Sarvotham Shetty presided over the programme. Kasargod MLA N A Nellikunnu, Karnataka Tulu Academy President Janaki Brahmavara, Kerala Tulu Academy President B Kanyana Balekodi, Shilanjana Kshetra Manikantha Seer Subbayya Rai, Dharmapala Devadiga, Vasanth Shetty Bellare, A C Bhandary, Thonse Jayakrishna Shetty, Shashidhar Shetty, Frank Fernandes, Raj Kumar, Chandrahas Rai, Shamina Alva, Rajesh Alva, Usha Hegde, Sumathi Shetty, A Shrinath, Shyam Prasad, Rajendra Rai and Subraya Adoor were present.
Osar Fernandes released the Tulu dictionary by Kannur Dr Shridharan. Vasanth Shetty Bellare, L V Amin and Usman Hayath were felicitated on the occasion. Tulu script calendar was released by Minister E Chandrashekaran. The World Tulu Fest, Tuluvere Ayano will conclude on December 13.
