Mangaluru: Chandobrahma Dr N Narayana Shetty Shimanthoor has been selected for the prestigious ‘Kolekadi Chandapadmashri’ award instituted by the Kolekadi Chandapadma Yaksha Trust.
The award will be presented to Narayana Shetty, during the inauguration of the Kolekadi Chandapadma Yaksha Trust which is scheduled to be held at Pavanje Shri Jnanashakti Subrahmanya temple on November 10. Pontiff of Chikkamagaluru K S Nithyananda will present the award to Shetty. After the award presentation ceremony, a ‘Kolekadi Yakshavaibhava – 2019’ programme will be held by veteran Yakshagana artists.
Shetty was born on February 1, 1934 to Elathuruguttu Late Acchanna Shetty and Nandikoor Chinkriguttu Late Kamalakshi. His book ‘Yakshagana Chandombudhi’ secured him a literary doctorate from Hampi University and he has written many Yakshagana prasangas including ‘Sorkuda Siriginde’. It can be noted that the famous Yakshagana prasanga ‘Shri Kateelu Kshethra Mahatme’ was written by Shetty when he was just 14 years old. Shetty has also received the Partisubba award.
