Moodabidri:A youth has been nabbed by the police on the charges of murdering his own elder sibling, on Friday.
The accused is Mohan, resident of Padumarnadu here.
It is said that Mohan’s older brother Sadashiva (30) was an alcoholic, who used to beat up their mother in an inebriated state.
On Wednesday night, Sadashiva had come home drunk and as usual picked up a fight with their mother. Unable to see his mother getting beaten black and blue, Mohan retaliated and ended up killing his own brother in fit of rage. Sadashiva succumbed to the head injuries caused as Mohan attacked him with sickle on the head and thus died on the spot.
It is said that though Mohan and his mother tried to hush up the matter, the neighbours found that Sadashiva was killed and thus the matter to light on Thursday evening.
The accused has been remanded to judicial custody for 15 days.
