Moodabidri: A youth who had come to a waterfall to enjoy Dasara holiday met his tragic end after a fall into the water body.
Ganesh Gowda (35), a mason by profession and a resident of Kurikumer of Thenkamijar had come to Nagundi falls near Kanchibail of Puthige GP limits on October 6 and had since then gone missing.
He had come to the falls along with his friends Rajesh, Kumar, Sunil and Srikanth. While four of his friends were enjoying at a different spot, Ganesh was perched on a rock nearby. Later, Ganesh is said to have slipped and fallen into the water body and all efforts of his friends to search for him went futile.
But what was suspicious was the fact that the four friends who returned to their respective villages remained tight-lipped about the tragic incident.
When Gowda’s mother probed about his whereabouts, the friends misled her saying that Gowda had got down from the vehicle half way through and hence they had no idea where he had gone.
On Tuesday, Gowd’s mother registered a complaint with Bajpe police when he lost all hopes of seeing her son.
When the police quizzed the four friends, they revealed the real details of the incident. The four were taken to the spot and with the help of divers the dead body of Gowda was retrieved from the very location where he is said to have slipped.
