Udupi: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced on Tuesday May 31 that orders have been issued for the immediate distribution of textbooks to students.

Speaking to mediapersons at The Country Inn Hotel CM said that he has directed officials to make plans for the distribution of new textbooks as soon as possible.

When asked about the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections on June 10, the CM expressed hope that the BJP will win the state’s fourth seat. He said that since the BJP and JD (S) both have 32 votes and the BJP has a majority of second preference votes, the BJP may win the fourth seat.

“When the second preference votes are counted, we get a simple majority.  We have friends everywhere, which is why we fielded a third candidate at the last minute,” he remarked of the BJP fielding Lehar Singh as the party’s third candidate in Karnataka.
