Udupi: Udupi, which was once at the forefront of health indicators in 2015, has now fallen to the 18th position, mainly due to an increase in maternal and child mortality rates. The Chief Minister and Health authorities expressed their displeasure and took the District Health Officers to task for this deterioration. They emphasized the need for improvement to bring the district back to its previous top-ranking position; otherwise, suspension may be considered.

Similarly, in the field of education, Udupi district is ranked 13th in the academic performance. The Chief Minister questioned the District Education Officers about this decline and reminded them of the responsibility to ensure the improvement of both the students’ and district’s performance. He cautioned them that if substantial progress is not observed in the future, appropriate actions may be taken against them.

In addition to health and education, the Chief Minister also discussed the increasing number of road accidents and cyber crimes in the district. He sought a detailed explanation from the police officials regarding the measures taken to address these issues effectively. He emphasized the importance of implementing appropriate strategies to control these problems and urged the police department to handle these issues with utmost efficiency and accountability.
