Udupi: The Udupi Judicial First Class Magistrate has refused the parole of Praveen Chowgule, who was earlier arrested for the murder of four people at Nejartu in Udupi on November 12th.

The accused had on February 8th, requested a parole stating that it was to attend his brother’s last rites in Sangli.

However senior assistant public prosecutor HM Nadaf refused to accept the request, expressing doubts on whether the death was legitimate and concerns of how the accused, on his release, could go against the law and order of the state.

While the accused claimed this brother passed away on February 1st, there was no death certificate to prove this, which only went on to add to the authorities’ concerns.

Judge Deepa, who later examined the arguments presented here, stood in favor of the prosecutor’s concerns, and ruled out any parole to the accused here.

Meanwhile, the police still continue their investigation the murder case, and will be submitting the chargesheet to the Udupi court on February 12th.
