DK registers 42nd, Udupi sees fourth COVID fatality

dead M 2162020Udupi/ Mangaluru: A 60-year-old man hailing from Belthangady succumbed to COVID-19, on Sunday, July 12.

With this, the COVID fatality in the district has reached 42.

It is said that the man, hailing from Pilichamundikallu in Kuvettu village of Beltangady had developed symptoms of coronavirus over the last few days.

His swabs were sent for testing and the results came positive on Sunday. However, unfortunately, the man died on the same morning.

The funeral will be conducted in Beltangady under the direction of local tehsildar.

On Saturday, the district witnessed 186 new COVID positive cases.

Meanwhile, an elderly person who died on Friday, July 10, in Udupi and has been tested positive for the infection on Sunday.

With this, the COVID fatalities in the district has shot to four.

According to the health officials, a 70-year-old person from Davangere was admitted to a private hospital due to various health issues, on July 9.

He breathed his last on July 10, following which a COVID test was conducted. The result came out positive on Sunday.

As per the Covid-19 protocol, the final rites of the deceased will be held in Udupi.
