Udupi: An attractive Shobha Yatre led by RSS honcho Mohan Bhagwat Pejavar Matt seer Sri Vishwesha Thirtha Swami and Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. Veerendra Heggade marked the beginning of the three-day Dharma Sansad in Udupi on November 24.

The Yatre that began from Rajangana in Sri Krishna Matt and culminated at Royal Garden near Kalsanka saw the participation of a large number of seers, including Suttur Matt seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami and Adichunchanagiri Matt seer Nirmalanandanatha Swami.

The programme was inaugurated by Pejavar Swami by lighting a lamp.

In his keynote address, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) International Working President Pravin Togadia, urged upon the people to practise securalism and rise above caste discrimination.

Stating that the takeover of administration of Hindu temples by the government from its respective heads was against the constitution, he asked the seers to unitedly fight for the cause. “Let the government, which controls temples, try to control a mosque or a church”, he said.

He also stressed the need to work out a strategy towards the implementation of ban on cow slaughter.

More than 2,000 saints, matt heads and VHP leaders from across the country will attend the meet which will also hold discussions on issues such as construction of Ram Temple, cow protection, religious conversions and explore ways to ensure harmony within the Hindu society.

The convention will culminate with a meeting of the Samaj Pramukhs or heads of communities of different districts of the state on November 26.

A mega Hindu Samajotsava, where UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would deliver the keynote address, would mark the conclusion of the Sansad.
