Udupi: The Ayodhya controversy was a local issue until politics entered the picture, after which it was inevitably a national issue. There are nation-wide organizations and unions representing the community to comment on such important national issues. They have already made their stand on the Ayodhya verdict known. Therefore, there is no need for individual districts and taluk-level Muslim organizations to comment on the issue, said Yaseen Malpe, president of Udupi District Muslim Okkoota on Saturday, November 9.
Speaking to the reporters here, he said, “Whatever the Supreme Court verdict is in this regard, we have already said that we will not respond emotionally and respect the Court’s decision and take the next legal step. We are still of the same opinion.”
“The life of man is more sacred than mosques and temples. We have already lost lives because of this controversy. The ongoing politics in this context must end. The Udupi District Muslim Union requests all communities and organizations in the district not to interfere with the peace of the community,” he added.
