Udupi: Minister for Minority, Food and Civil Supplies and Wakf Board B A Zameer Ahmed Khan visited the Udupi Diocese Bishop’s House here and met Bishop Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo on November 17.
On behalf of the Udupi Diocese, the bishop welcomed the minister and appealed to him to release the pending grants that were sanctioned by the previous Congress government for the diocese and St. Lawrence Basilica in Attur, Karkala.
The minister agreed to release all the pending grants at the earliest and assured him of the state government’s support to the Christians in the state. He also promised to do what he could to defend and uphold the rights of the state’s Christian community.
Former district in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Rector of St. Lawrence Basilica, Attur, Rev. Fr. George D’Souza, Congress leaders G A Bava, M A Gafoor, Udupi District Congress President Janardhan Thonse and others were present.
