Udupi: Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt in Udupi said that it is a matter of great concern that the Congress government has decided to withdraw the anti-conversion law and the anti-cow slaughter act enacted by the previous BJP government.
In a statement, he said, “Keep the laws in place as it is. He appealed to them not to resort to the misadventure of getting it back.
The conversion had led to discord among members of each family. The brother-sister of the same family had to fight with each other. In this context, the BJP had brought a law to stop it. Similarly, a woman used to make a living by keeping four cows.
There have been cases of cow thieves stealing it and the BJP government had brought in a law banning cow slaughter. This appealed to the present government to collect the opinion of the people through the people’s representatives and keep the two acts as they are.
