Petrol bunks to remain closed from midnight of Oct 12 to Oct 13

Udupi: Under the leadership of Coastal Petroleum Dealers’ Association, a 24 hour closure of Petroleum Stations in response to nation-wide strike will be held from midnight of October 12 to Oct 13 midnight.

Addressing to media persons at Udupi Press Club on Wednesday, 11th October, K. Prabhaker Shetty, President of Coastal Petroleum Dealers’ Association, said that the strike has been called to pressurise the government on their various demands. If the government does not relent, then the association would go for an indefinite closure of purchase and sale from October 27, till the trade anomalies are resolved.

He said that Oil Marketing Companies had agreed to resolve issues pertaining to revision on return of investment, revision of dealer margin every six month, revised manpower requirement, fresh study on petroleum products handling losses, product transportation issues and ethanol blending without proper equipment.

Manufactures of equipment themselves do not guarantee a zero tolerance behavior of equipment. They also demand implementation of Goods Sales Tax on petroleum products. GST must be implemented on petroleum products so that one nation, one tax can be fulfilled to benefit consumers, he said.

Navneeth Acharya, Anup, Vishumurthi, Harish Kini, Sridher Shetty and other among were present during the press meet.
