Police Arrest Seven Accused for Hijacking Fishing Boat

Udupi: In a recent incident, a fishing boat originating from Malpe fell victim to hijacking on the open sea, leading to the abduction of both the vessel and its crew. The perpetrators managed to make away with valuable fish and a substantial amount of money. The Malpe police swiftly took action, apprehending seven suspects from Bhatkal in connection with the audacious crime.

The individuals arrested have been identified as Subrahmanya Kharvi (34), Raghavendra Kharvi (38), Harish Narayan Kharvi (40), Nagesh Narayan (42), Gopal Madhav (38) of Silver near the port, Santhosh Devaiah (43), and Laxman (50) of Bhatkal. Following the registration of the case in Malpe, the diligent efforts of the Malpe police led them to Bhatkal, where the hijacked boat and the abducted fishermen were located and rescued.

The seven accused have been taken into custody and transported back to Malpe to face legal proceedings in connection with the fishing boat hijacking and theft of valuable resources, including fish and diesel.
